In July 2025, Switzerland will take over the presidency of the intergovernmental innovation initiative Eureka, involving 46 countries and the European Commission. It is actively shaping innovation cooperation in Europe and worldwide. Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion, represents Switzerland in the Eureka initiative and therefore The Federal Council has accordingly mandated Innosuisse to organize the Swiss chairmanship.
The goal shared by the 47 members is to strengthen competitiveness and create jobs through partnership and cooperation. This is achieved in particular through the promotion of cross-border innovation projects. Currently, Switzerland ranks sixth in terms of project participation by Swiss companies and research institutions, behind Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Sweden.
