The roadmap defines five key priority areas, namely * Breakthrough Science * Food * Energy * Health and * Resource Efficiency. where gaps in knowledge are limiting technological progress and where the chemical sciences have a role to play in bridging these gaps. For that reason these areas should be priorities in the EU Research Framework Programme 8.
